Subco Steps into Tech with Ignite
In early 2024, the team at Subco Engineering, led by Martin Reynolds and Richard Ward, began an exciting chapter with the Ignite Launch Programme. This story is all about their journey from getting into the programme to looking back a month after it ended, sharing all they learned and overcame along the way.
February 2024: The Starting Line
Getting into the Ignite Launch Programme, thanks to support from Barclays Eagle Labs, was a big deal for us at Subco. The programme was all about helping tech startups like us learn and grow. Even though Martin and Richard knew a lot about engineering, the tech startup world was pretty new to them. They were ready to dive in and bring some of that tech magic to Subco.
Learning and Doing
Juggling the work of starting Subco with the programme was tough but exciting. The workshops, especially the “No Code Workshop,” were eye-openers. They showed us how to make mobile apps without needing to be coding wizards. We learned loads about handling data safely and making apps that people would find easy and nice to use. This workshop wasn’t just useful; it changed how we thought about fitting tech into Subco’s plans.
Talking and Sharing
A big part of the programme was meeting people who’d been through it all before. Martin and Richard had chats with past participants, picking their brains for tips and advice. These talks were gold – they saved us from heading down paths that would have cost us time and money without much to show for it.
Fridays with a Purpose
Then there were the “Mission Control Fridays” – every week, we’d get together with other founders to talk about what we’d done that week. It was our time to shine, showing off how many engineering standards we’d managed to create. It felt good to share our progress and learn from others, too.
A Month Later: Looking Back and Moving Forward
A month after finishing the programme, we at Subco feel more ready than ever. The Ignite Launch Programme wasn’t just about learning; it was a journey that made us smarter, more connected, and more determined to innovate in the engineering world.
We’re thankful for the lessons, the friendships, and the experiences we gathered along the way. With a clearer vision for using technology in our services, Subco is stepping forward, excited to face new challenges and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
This experience with the Ignite Launch Programme has shown us the value of reaching out, trying new things, and sticking together through challenges—a story we’re proud to share and build on as we grow Subco Engineering.
