Subco Academy is our free knowledge-sharing platform for the engineering community. It brings together practical guides, interactive calculators, and reference material developed from real-world project experience across marine, offshore, and structural engineering disciplines.
Who is Subco Academy for?
Academy resources are designed for practising engineers, graduate engineers, and engineering students. Whether you are looking for a quick reference on a design standard or working through a calculation for the first time, the content is written to be accessible at all levels.
Is Subco Academy free to use?
Yes. All guides, calculators, and reference material on Subco Academy are completely free to access. We believe in building knowledge across the wider engineering community, not just within our own team.
How often is new content added?
We regularly publish new calculators, guides, and reference material based on the work our engineers are doing on live projects. If we solve an interesting problem or develop a useful tool, we share it here.
Where does the content come from?
All Academy content is developed by our engineering team from hands-on project experience. Our engineers work across a range of disciplines and sectors, and the calculators and guides reflect the practical problems they encounter and solve every day.
Can I use the calculators for real projects?
The calculators are built on recognised engineering standards and verified methods. However, they are provided as reference tools and should always be used alongside appropriate engineering judgement. Users are responsible for verifying that inputs, assumptions, and applicable standards are correct for their specific application.
Do you offer formal training or CPD?
We run internal training programmes for our graduates and interns, and we are working on making more structured learning content available through the Academy. If you are interested in training or collaboration, get in touch via our contact page.
Can I suggest a topic or calculator?
Absolutely. We welcome suggestions from the engineering community. If there is a calculation, guide, or topic you would find useful, contact us and we will consider adding it to the Academy.
How are the engineering calculators verified?
Each calculator references the specific design standard or textbook it is based on, and includes the relevant clause or equation numbers. Our engineers verify the outputs against worked examples and hand calculations before publishing.
Can I contribute to Subco Academy?
