Subco at Offshore Wind North East 2026, Sunderland

Subco is heading back to Offshore Wind North East. Joe Hinchliffe, Director, and Matthew Majtyka, Lead Engineer, will be at the Beacon of Light in Sunderland on Thursday 12 November for OWNE 2026, the region's flagship offshore wind conference and exhibition, organised by NOF and Energi Coast.

We were there last year and it has become a fixture in our calendar. OWNE brings developers, installation contractors, fabricators, ports and the wider supply chain into one room, which is exactly the community we work with day to day. This year's event moves to a tighter one-day format, with a main stage, a supply chain theatre, an exhibition hall and one-to-one meetings with buyers, plus Offshore Wind Drinks in Sunderland city centre the evening before.

Who you'll meet

Joe leads Subco's technology and engineering delivery, and Matthew leads much of our structural and lifting design work. Between them they cover most of the questions we get asked on offshore wind projects, from early concept through to calculations and drawings ready for fabrication.

Why offshore wind keeps bringing us back

A large share of our work now comes from the offshore wind supply chain: marine and installation contractors, fabricators, and ports and their tenants. Typical scopes include seafastening and grillage design, lifting and handling equipment, structural analysis and FEA, and fatigue assessment for temporary and permanent works.

More and more of those clients are finding us as a practical way to balance their engineering workload. Demand in offshore wind rarely arrives evenly, and hiring for the peaks isn't always realistic. Subco gives teams chartered, consultant-level design engineering on a fixed-price, on-demand basis, so they can take on more work without compromising on quality or carrying extra overhead between projects.
